There are two options in GPS Visualizer's mapping and file conversion input forms that allow you to "simplify" your tracks: Max. points per track ( trk_simplify) and trackpoint distance threshold ( trk_distance_threshold ). They both reduce the number of trackpoints (while preserving time stamps and other information), but in very different ways.

How to convert files using the Convert to GPX. Select Your File: Start by uploading or dragging and dropping the file (s) you want to convert into the designated area. Some formats require several files; Optional: Conversion Settings: Customize your conversion settings as needed. Adjust SRS and precision level if necessary;
. GPX files collect points in two ways: waypoints and tracks. Waypoints are generally single, unrelated points while tracks make up a route or collection of related points with a start and end point. The type of point collected is specified in the output feature class by the code WPT (waypoint) or TRKPT (track point) within the Type attribute field.
Select the track you’d like to export then go to File > Export Selected User Data. Select a folder and file name for your GPX file. Open Google Earth and drag the GPX file onto the map. A data import window will come up. You can adjust these to your liking. I prefer to use Create KML LineStrings and Adjust altitudes to ground height.
Standard GPX files can contain waypoints (it's a normal thing to do). But waypoints are not "course points". "Course points" are kind-of like waypoints but associated with the track. "Course points" are a Garmin thing. It's possible that Suunto but not likely. I suspect you are getting waypoints on the Suuto. That wouldn't be surprising at all.
From the tracks list, select a track. Select > Convert to Route. Select an existing collection or create a new collection ( Creating a Collection ). Select an option: To keep the original track and add the new route to a collection, select Make a Copy. To delete the original track and add the new route to a collection, select Delete the Original.
gpxpy -- GPX file parser. This is a simple Python library for parsing and manipulating GPX files. GPX is an XML based format for GPS tracks.
